-
The entire plan is based on our TSI status and is geared towards improvement
-
The Solution Tree PLC event was last month
-
GC sent a few teams to learn about collaboration and PLC’s
-
PLC’s are important to the school and the district.
-
Admin is still working on getting around to meeting with all school PLC’s
-
-
Other items are still in progress or events are upcoming
-
Budget is updated as money is spent
-
The Council will be posted throughout the year as to our progress and remaining trustlands balance
TSI Data
-
We are on a TSI plan because our EL Progress group is below the threshold
-
Achievement points (overall scores in math, English and science) is the area where we need improvement
-
We are anticipating coming out of TSA after 2023 data is released, which is expected soon
-
State data shows that Green Canyon is the top performing high school in the valley and above averages for the state and the county.
-
We are focusing our efforts on best teaching practices, which not only helps our EL population but all students
-
Another focus is making sure all students have necessary accommodations for them to succeed
School Climate - school is always open to feedback
-
Lots of positive things going on
-
Lots of successes - academics, music, sports, extracurricular
-
Kids want to be here
-
Suggestions
-
Would like better fundraising parity (could high value fundraisers like dances be spread among different organizations)
-
Would like to see more accountability for students using PACK hour if they need it and a recognition that PACK hour can be difficult socially for younger kids who don’t have access to off campus meal options
-
Better include local industry partners and businesses as possible career options
-
We are pushing kids to finish the Youscience assessment to provide more targeted options for future employment
-
-
Student Successes
-
We will have Tia Stokes (a motivational speaker) speaking to our Freshman and selected other students on Wednesday, November 15th about resiliency
-
Veterans Day Assembly was amazing; all involved did a great job
-
We are seeing many successes both out in front and behind the scenes
-
Overall Green Canyon has had a great start to the school year
Dont forget to vote YES on the school bond. Get your ballots in!
We will not be meeting in December.
Our next meeting will be Monday, January 8th at 7:00 am.
