On October 31, 2023, the Utah State Board of Education released district and school report cards. We encourage you to visit our district and your school’s report card (links below) to review some of the data that we use to inform our practice.

We are extremely proud of our students and teachers and the hard work they do in the classroom every day. We appreciate our stakeholders and parents for supporting our assessment efforts, as we use the information from assessments to guide our practice. Our district report card shows that we are finding success in several areas and has also helped us to see areas of improvement. Highlights that we are proud of:

• Exemplary status in growth for K-8 Math and Science
• Commendable status in achievement for K-8  English Language Arts, Math, and Science
• Increased achievement percentages in high school English Language Arts and Science from 2021-2022 school year

Intro to School Report Cards

School report cards are intended to inform parents, educators, and community stakeholders as they work collaboratively to achieve student success. Report cards report on some, but not all, of the data that we as a district use to inform our practice.

At the core of the Utah School Report Cards is the belief that all students can grow, and all schools can improve. While no student report card tells the full story of a child, no school report card tells the full story of a school. Education is far more than a single score or letter grade, but it is important that families and communities can see both strengths and areas that need support and improvement. How to Interpret the Data

Each spring, students are assessed in the concepts and skills taught in the classroom, measuring student learning and the Utah State Standards. At the elementary and middle schools, most assessment data comes from the RISE assessments. At the high school level, the assessment data comes from the Utah Aspire+ and the ACT.  

• Achievement shows the percentage of students who demonstrated mastery of grade-level standards in each subject.
• Growth shows the amount of improvement, or growth, students have made in each subject, illustrating the extent to which student learning is improving. To provide context, growth in each subject area is described as high, average, or low.
• English learner (EL) Progress is a measure of students who are learning English. This indicator demonstrates students’ progress toward becoming proficient in the English language. EL progress is measured through the WIDA assessment.
• Early Literacy is a measure of students’ reading in early elementary grades. While Early Literacy is not factored into school accountability calculations and does not receive points or a rating, reading on grade level by the end of third grade is a strong predictor of future academic success.
• Post secondary readiness illustrates how well-prepared students are for the transition from high school to college and career after graduation.
