Green Canyon Counseling Office
Welcome 2023 - 2024 school year! Ready to run with the pack? We are so ready for you!!
The counselor assigned to you is by your last name,
Mr. Max Jones: B – D; Mr. Grant Calverley: E - I; Mr. Clint Fullmer: K – O; Mrs. Jennifer Hartman: S – Z Mrs. Deedra Hinds: A, J, P-R
We are fortunate to have a College Advisor at Green Canyon, Kylie Stoddard. Kylie will be an arm of our office, assisting students with post-high school education considerations. She will be situated in our Post-High Center. We have a Gear UP representative, Fred Bland. Fred is gifted in two languages, he also speaks spanish. He will be situated in the Post-High Center also.
As to class schedules, your schedule is a reflection of the College and Career Readiness (PCCR) meeting you had in the spring with your counselor or school representative. The classes you chose were inputted into Powerschool and every attempt has been made to create a schedule that includes all of your requests. Unfortunately, there is no way to guarantee every student every request due to any of the following scheduling issues:
● A conflict with other courses required
● Sections were full (electives will be filled by seniors first)
● Classes with low enrollment were eliminated
● Classroom numbers with teachers in the same subject needed to be adjusted
Your schedule will not be considered final until Friday, Aug. 11th at 5:00 pm. If you view it prior to the 11th, realize changes may still occur. Student schedules will not be available in print at Green Canyon. Schedules can be accessed on Powerschool https://powerschool.ccsdut.org/public/.
Green Canyon’s registration is as follows:
Seniors – Monday, Aug 14th 9:00 – 1:00
Juniors – Tuesday, Aug 15th 9:00 – 1:00
Sophomores – Wednesday, Aug 16th 9:00 – 1:00
Freshmen – Thursday, Aug 17th 9:00 – 1:00
Make-up – Thursday, Aug 17th 4:00 – 7:00 pm and Friday, Aug 18th 9:00 – 1:00
It gets extremely busy in the counseling office during registration and wait time to meet with your counselor can get long. Missy Perkes, our receptionist, or Sandie Nyman, our registrar, will check students in on a first come, first serve basis. They will be able to text you when your counselor is free. You can avoid any wait time by using our Class Change Request Form, outside the counseling office or in the Post-High Center. Request forms are processed each day beginning at 1:00 in the order they were received. Students may check Powerschool within a day or two to see if changes were possible.
**We will not be handling schedule changes by phone or email. It is vital to us to meet in person or instead, use the change form.
Please note: If a student has an IEP, please schedule an appointment with Kelsey Chlarson, in the Special Education Department, not with a counselor.
See you very soon,
Max Jones, Grant Calverley, Clint Fullmer, Jennifer Hartman and Deedra Hinds
***Please continue reading on the back to determine if you may be a new student to Green Canyon High School.
If you meet one of the following criteria, you are considered a new student to Green Canyon and will need to read this letter for instructions on enrolling and registration:
● Students who have recently moved into Green Canyon boundaries
● Students who live within the boundaries but did not attend a Cache County school this past year
● School choice students with a “permit to register” who have not previously turned in enrollment documents
New Green Canyon Wolf,
We are excited to meet you and discuss your academic future. Here's important information you need prior to meeting with us:
First, you will need to complete a Cache County Registration Form for your student. You may do this one of two ways:
● Access the district website "New Student Registration" by left-clicking on
● Cache County School District new student registration for online registration. OR
● Complete the registration paperwork at one of the open houses.
Second, you will need to attend an open house to Enroll new students at Green Canyon:
Open Houses: Wednesday, August 9th 9:00 - 1:00 pm
Thursday, August 10th 9:00 - 1:00 pm
*** In order to enroll your student(s) you will need the following Enrollment Documents: a valid Utah Driver's License/ID or passport, a Birth Certificate, student immunizations and 2 proofs of residency; one must be a rental or mortgage payment, the other a utility bill.
During this time, we will verify students. Counselors will meet with students to select courses for the year. **It would be very helpful if students entering 10th - 12th grades bring a transcript from their previous school. It does not need to be an official transcript.
Please remember you cannot continue with enrollment until registration has been completed (see above).
We know this may be an inconvenience for some of you but it will be worth the effort. We value your time and will make your visit outweigh any expense. Thank you for choosing Green Canyon for your student(s). This year is going to be amazing!
