SCC member training: required, October 4 th 6-6:30 pm. You can watch it online later if needed
Counselor Minute from Tara Johnson: needs assessment survey was sent to parents, teachers and
students. The top 3 needs were suicide prevention, stress management and self-esteem. The
counseling office is planning to do more activities supporting these 3 needs. The Hope Squad has
several members this year. They are planning to visit classes during flex to go over Question, Persuade,
Refer and telling an adult if you know of anyone struggling. There will be a resiliency activity and a social
anxiety group. We also have the Project Aware program now so we have that extra help from another
person in the school. Project Aware is paid out of TSSA.
Update on activities: Homecoming week went well. The theme this year is New Heights. Today 9/20 is
Special Forces Day from 10am-1pm. All the special needs students in middle school and high school
from Cache County School District and Logan School District are attending. RHS student athletes run the
stations and the teachers have been asked to bring their classes out for a short time to cheer them on.
Area of focus: Mike Schmoker is a former teacher and coach and has written a couple books. Our focus
is on how we teach and what we teach. We want quality instruction. Teachers are working on
questioning techniques, posting the learning objective and showing students their success. We want
students to be successful.
Budget: Trust Land is to help provide academic needs. TSSA is to get things that are needed. The
budget for this year was created in the spring of 2022. Went over ACT and Aspire measurements. RHS
had more than any other school in the district to opt out of Aspire testing last year. Aspire testing helps
predict how well students will do on the ACT. Free ACT is available for Juniors but there is a limit of 12
times you can take the ACT. The greatest Academic need is a English Language aide. We also started
the RAPP program with a ISP aide to help students earn an original credit or a recovery credit. There is
also after school math tutoring Monday-Thursday for an hour and a half after school. For PLC the
teachers meet every Wednesday morning. Diversity Discovery takes students to USU leadership activities. Class sizes are growing (approx. 1850 students). Maria Hunsaker helping with Parent Liaison. Looking into sending some teachers to PLC conference.
Parent Teacher Conference: changing to Mondays only from 12-6pm. No school for students. Next
PTC is Oct. 3rd
Concluded meeting at 7:29 am
