Agenda Item #1: Welcome & Approve March 2019 Minutes
Discussion: Sandra Hugie made a motion to approve minutes from March’s meeting and Wendy Finley seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous to approve the minutes.

Agenda Item #2: Principal’s Updates: Trustland Budget and other school information
Discussion: The question was asked if there were enough parents present at the last meeting to vote to approve next year’s budget. Principal Henke verified that there were enough members present at the last meeting who voted on the approval of the proposed budget for next year. Principal Henke stated that everyone on the council should have received an email from the state asking for approval of the budget as well. Several council members stated they hadn’t received the e-mail. Principal Henke sent the email from the state again to the council members and everyone was able to receive the email and approve the budget.

Principal Henke stated the Trustland Budget is spent down to 39% as of right now with two months left of the school year plus summer school. The goal is to get it below 10%. Maria Hunsaker asked if summer school was just for students who need to make up credits or is it for students who want to get ahead. Principal Henke stated it was just for making up credits. He also stated that Bridgerland Technical College will be free for students in the summer if they want to start working on a certificate there. Brittany Foster will replace Bob Henke as principal for next year. Principal Henke’s last day will be June 14th. He and his wife will go to the Missionary Training Center in Provo on June 22nd. There is the Athletic Director position that is open now and the administration will start working on filling that position. Mr. Henke waited until the new principal was hired before they opened that position so that the new principal could be involved in the hiring. There are several applicants who have applied.
There was a discussion regarding new positions on the School Community Council available for next year. Sandra Hugie, Wendy Finley, Maria Hunsaker, and Kerri Williams have served two years on the council. So four positions will be available for the next school year. Brittany Foster will send an e-mail out at the end of May asking for parents interested in serving on the council.
ASPIRE testing starts on April 29th. There will be an alternate schedule with FLEX hour being first and then 1st through 5th hour will follow. The Sophomores will be tested during that first FLEX hour during the first week and then the following week the Freshmen will be tested. The scores for the tests won’t be available until the Fall. Parents can view them in the Student Documents portal in PowerSchool.

    Agenda Item #3: Counselor’s Update
Bridget Crane stated the counselors are finishing up registration and doing a lot of registration clean up. They are also finalizing all of the PCCR (Plan for College and Career Readiness) for every Sophomore. Over the next month and a half, they will be finalizing all of the data from the Needs Assessment which is done every three years. Information is gathered from teachers, parents, and students. They are compiling the data to come up with a three-year plan for the counselor’s program goals for the next three years. Maria Hunsaker asked about when the FAFSA Night will be held next year. Ms. Crane stated she didn’t know the specific date of when that would be held. Ms. Foster stated it would be held during College Application Week which is scheduled for October 21-24th.

Agenda Item #4: Upcoming School Events: Prom is April 13th. It will be held at the Castle Manor. Parents are invited to attend the Promenade. Graduation will be held May 30th at 4:00 pm in the USU Spectrum. The last day classes are held will be May 30th. The school will dismiss at 11:00 a.m. on that day.

A motion was made to adjourn the meeting by Wendy Finley. Heather Murphy seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned.
