Discussion: The Trustland budget had not been updated online, so Mr. Henke could not give us an update. There is no more SAGE testing. Going forward, schools will be graded based on the scores for the ACT taken by the Juniors and not the SAGE testing. Mr. Henke showed the council how to see the grades data for all the schools in Utah. The website is www.schools.utah.gov. Once on the site, you click on the data gateway. You can compare schools using the past SAGE scores. There is also a way to see individual school grades. Up until now, schools have been given a grade of A, B, C, D, F based on SAGE scores. Now a school’s grade will be based on its ACT scores. Mr. Henke showed the council what the new site looks like showing the school’s overall performance. Some of the areas are English Learner Progress, Achievement in subjects, Growth in subjects, and Postsecondary Readiness. The council looked at different schools in Cache County District and also schools outside the district. Ridgeline has some of the highest scores in the state.
Agenda Item #3: School Counselor’s Updates
Discussion: Bridget Crane gave the update. Ms. Crane announced an event at the USU Spectrum for next Monday, January 14th regarding how electronics impact the brain. It is a free event for families. Currently, the counseling department is doing a 30-day stress management event. They will post different coping strategies for stress on social media. Registration for students for next year starts February 4th and will go through the whole month of February. It will start with a counseling department event going over the registration process and then there will be a “Rush” event where students can go around and talk to different teachers regarding their classes.Agenda Item #4: Other Items
Discussion: Mr. Henke stated the council needs to look at the Trustland Budget for next year. He suggested having the school-wide leadership committee look at the budget and decide what is necessary for next year. Then the leadership team will present to the council in March.
