Bully Prevention Resource Center

  • The Cache County School District takes the issue of bullying and cyberbullying very seriously. Much has been printed and broadcasted in the media regarding this issue, but little has been said in the media about what parents, guardians, students, and educators can do to help prevent bullying and cyber bullying.

In an effort to assist our patrons, our students, and CCSD faculties and staff to prevent bullying and cyber bullying, we have established this Online Bully Prevention Resource Center. You will find many suggestions about dealing with bullies, how to help those who are being bullied, and most importantly how to prevent bullying and cyber bullying.

    Definitions

Bullying: The United States Department of Health and Human Services in their website, www.stopbullying.gov, defines bullying as unwanted, aggressive behavior that involves a real or perceived imbalance of power between two or more individuals. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time. Bullying can include, but is not limited to, making threats, spreading rumors, attacking someone physically or verbally, and excluding someone from a group on purpose.

Cyber bullying: According to www.OnGuardOnline.gov , sponsored by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, cyber bullying is bullying or harassment that happens online. It can happen in an e-mail, a text message, a game, or on a social networking site. It might involve spreading rumors or images posted on someone’s profile or passed around for others to see, or creating a group or page to make a person feel left out or humiliated.
