We currently offer two sports opportunities for students at Lewis & Clark Montessori Charter School. Ultimate occurs in the fall and spring and includes developmental and competitive divisions for both elementary and middle school students. Additionally, in the fall, 3rd through 8th grade students may join the school’s cross country team.

Explorers Fall 2024 Ultimate

All 3rd-8th year LCMCS students are invited to join the Ultimate Club

What is Ultimate?
Ultimate is a non-contact team sport played with a flying disc that has elements of soccer, basketball, football and netball. It is a sport that is grounded in the “Spirit of the Game” which aligns nicely with Montessori.  Players participate and compete using an honor system, respect for others and the principle of fair play. They even referee their own games and resolve conflict within a safe framework.

Who can participate?

  • Grades 3-8
  • All genders, identities and abilities welcome
  • Max of 30-35 students
  • We need at least nine 7th & 8th graders to form a middle school competitive team
  • We need at least nine elementary (5th-6th grade) students to form an older elementary competitive team
  • We need at least nine elementary (3rd-4th grade) students to form an younger elementary competitive team

Practices:

  • Once a week on Tuesdays from 3:45 pm-5:30pm @ LCMCS for non-competitive and competitive players
  • Sept 3rd – Oct 29th (9 weeks)
  • Can sign up for just practice (Tues – Non-competitive) or practices and games (Tues & Sundays – Competitive)

Competitive Games (if we have enough players):

  • Middle school (7-8th grade) competitive team
    • Sundays, Sept-Oct.  Time & Location TBD
  • Older elementary (5-6th grade) competitive team
    • Sundays, Sept-Oct.  Time & Location TBD
  • Younger elementary (3-4th grade) competitive team
    • Sundays, Sept-Oct.  Time & Location TBD

Cost:

  • $90 for just Tuesdays (new & competitive players)
  • Additional cost ($75) for competitive games on Sunday’s through Portland Ultimate (sign up for this later once registered with LCMCS).

What is Cross Country?

Cross Country is an individual and team sport that involves running a race course over natural terrain. The race and practice terrain varies depending on the location. Together, students will experience running as a healthy lifestyle, learn about their bodies and gain skills important to the development of any young athlete.

Who can participate?

  • Grades 3-8
  • All abilities, genders and identities welcome
  • New team members may “try out” cross country for the first week for free but will need a current physical exam to participate.

Practices

  • 3 x per week on M,W,Th from 3:45pm -5:15pm @ LCMCS
  • Wednesday, September 4th thru Wednesday, October 30th
  • You can still join the team if you are not able to make every practice due to another sport or other activity.  Contact Peter for details.
Meets (schedule TBD)
  • North Clackamas League Meets usually on Weds or Thrus. after school
  • Possible Invitational meets (a few per season) on the weekends
    • Sat, Sept 14   Ash Creek XC Festival, Monmouth, OR  or  Oregon City XC Invitational
    • Sun, Nov 3  Stumptown Youth Cross Country Championship, Monmouth, OR

Required Forms/Exams
