‘Above and Beyond’ Is the Bulldog Way

In February of 2021, Dan, Michelle, Morgan, Landon and Ashton Holloway donated a Bulldog statue to recognize the members of the Kearney School District team for their efforts during the COVID-19 global pandemic. The statue included an inscription headed with the words, “Above and Beyond.”

“Above and beyond” – those are the words that are used again and again when folks in Kearney talk about the work being done by our teachers, support staff and school leaders. But the truth is that Team Bulldogs has just kept doing what we do best during these challenging times. “Above and beyond” isn’t a response to a crisis in Kearney School District. It’s our mindset, everyday, in every school and class, with every student, no matter what.

Our team of extraordinary public educators see opportunities instead of obstacles. When COVID-19 forced us to temporarily close school buildings, they embraced innovation and leveraged cutting-edge tools and techniques to actually increase their ability to provide individualized lessons. They built virtual bridges with their students and families. They were patient and persistent. Team Bulldogs partnered with our community to ensure that teaching and learning continued in the face of an unprecedented global pandemic. They simply refused to back down. Period. When challenges arise – and they always will – we will dig deep, lean in and go above and beyond. That’s the Bulldog way.

On behalf of every member of Team Bulldogs, thank you to the Holloway family and our entire community for going above and beyond for our students!
