Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Program to Expand with the Addition of New Classrooms
Posted 4/24/23

Over the last few months, Huntington Beach City School District (HBCSD) has seen an overwhelming growth in Transitional Kindergarten (TK) enrollment. As a result, we will open two additional TK classrooms at Peterson Elementary for the 2023-2024 school year. HBCSD will also continue to offer TK at Hawes Elementary.

Students whose residence (home) schools are Peterson Elementary, Smith Elementary, or Seacliff Elementary will now be zoned to attend Peterson’s TK program for the 2023-24 school year. Students whose residence schools are Hawes Elementary, Eader Elementary, or Moffett Elementary will be zoned to attend Hawes’ TK program for the 2023-24 school year. Our district website will indicate the TK program your child will attend based on your home address when enrolling. Both locations will offer credentialed TK teachers, a student and teacher ratio of 24:2, and high-quality, student-focused programs.

We are excited to offer this new option to our families. Thank you for your continued support of our schools and our mission to create a community where learners thrive.
