Get To Know Your Counselor, Mrs. Heather Turvin
-
My name is Heather Turvin and I am the guidance counselor at Ashford High School. I was a high school math teacher here at AHS from 2005-2018. Currently, I reside in Ashford with my husband, Ben, and our three children, Logan (13), Lynnlee (9), and Lawson (4).
I am honored to be a product of Ashford High School. After high school, I attended Troy University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Mathematics Education in 2005. I pride myself on being a lifelong learner. Therefore, in 2008 I earned a Master's degree in School Counseling, in 2016 I earned an Education Specialist degree in School Counseling, and in 2019 I earned certification in Instructional Leadership.
During my career, I have had the opportunity to work with students and teachers from a variety of backgrounds. I enjoy working with others and being a team player. I feel it takes a community to raise a child. I want to be a part of this community and help instill the importance of learning and personal growth.
As a counselor, I plan to work with students, teachers, and administration and interact with them to meet goals, plan instruction, analyze data, teach standards, and create a desirable learning environment. I truly feel blessed to be an Ashford Yellow Jacket!
