Mrs. Baylee Southerland

Hello, my name is Baylee Southerland and I started working for Hartselle City Schools in 2020. I am from Falkville, Alabama and graduated from Falkville High School in 2017. I graduated with my Bachelors in Elementary and Collaborative Education from Athens State University in April of 2022. I also graduated with a Minor in Autism and Developmental Disabilities. My first two years working for Hartselle City Schools, I worked at Crestline Elementary as a paraprofessional. I started my career as a special education teacher at FEB. I am so excited to be teaching at F.E. Burleson.

My husband, dog, and I live in Hartselle and love the community. In my off time, I love spending time with my family. I have been married to my husband, Luke, since September 2020 and we have a sweet goldendoodle named Kevin. We enjoy spending our time off going to sporting events, hanging out with friends, and playing with our dog. We have two nephews that we also enjoy spoiling. Some of my favorite things are reading a good book, relaxing on the beach, watching Grey's Anatomy, and going to church.

The reason I love being a special education teacher is because I get to help support students in reaching their full potential. I love to make learning fun and exciting for students. It brings me joy to see my students enjoy learning activities and lessons. My hope as a teacher is to provide each student with a safe, supportive, and fun environment where they can be their true self and learn.
