Mrs. Leah Turner

My name is Leah Smith Turner.  I have lived in Hartselle all my life, attending F.E. Burleson, Hartselle Junior High, and Hartselle High School.  After graduating high school in 1996, I attended UNA and Athens State for my undergraduate work, earning a degree in K-6 Elementary Education.  Upon graduating college in 2000, I married Gary Turner, also from Hartselle, and began teaching that same year.  The next two years I earned a Masters Degree from UAB, also in Elementary Education. After teaching 4th grade for 14 years, I earned my School Counseling degree from the University of West Alabama and moved into the position of School Counselor.

We have two sons, William and Sam. They keep us extremely busy!!  We enjoy going to football, baseball, and basketball games to support our Tigers!

I am a firm believer that every child can learn.  Finding ways to reach each individual child can be challenging, but proven to be necessary for promoting successful lifelong learning.  This year my hope is that every child plays a vital role in our school community, and feel a true sense of ownership for his or her success.

Students will have classroom guidance classes once a month.  Lessons will consist of emotional, social, academic, and career lessons.

I count it a privilege to be here at F.E. Burleson.  The proud tradition of this school can be traced back for generations and can be expected to remain and get stronger in the years to come.
