CLASSROOM POLICIES AND PROCEDURES:
ASSIGNMENTS:
All assignments are due at the beginning of the period when the tardy bell rings, or as otherwise indicated. You must write legibly or I will not accept your work. Spiral bound paper will not be accepted. Students need to avoid placing stray marks or unnecessary graffiti on papers. Your name and date need to be on the paper.
Online assignments must be submitted by the indicated deadline and must be the student’s original work. Students must follow all directions issued in regard to online work, as found in the assignment description. Online assignments will be posted on Google Classroom.
MAKEUP WORK:
Assignments will be posted on your Google Classroom. If you are absent, you will need to check Google Classroom to find out what we did and retrieve the relevant document(s). IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO OBTAIN AND COMPLETE MAKEUP WORK EITHER BEFORE OR AFTER CLASS. You will have a period of time equivalent to your number of missed days in order to turn in make-up work (up to five days), except in the case of a major project, binder, or otherwise cited assignment. Tests must be made up outside of class. Students will need to make arrangements with the teacher to come before school, after school, or during lunch to make up tests.
LATE WORK POLICY:
Late assignments will no longer be accepted after the assignment is returned to the class.
CORRECTIONS POLICY:
Any paper assignment on which the student has scored less than 100% (unless stated otherwise by the teacher or unless the student has received a zero for academic dishonesty) may be corrected for half credit back on that assignment. Corrections must be received in the same six-weeks period that the grade is recorded.
Online assignments cannot be corrected.
PARTICIPATION:
Students are expected to participate gainfully in classroom activities. If the student is engaged in online-only instruction, students are expected to participate through completion of online assignments. The teacher may, at any time, decide to issue a participation grade. Failure to engage in the assigned activity will result in a reduced participation grade. Negative behaviors will result in a reduced participation grade and possible disciplinary action.
GENERAL RULES:
*ALWAYS BELIEVE IN YOURSELF*
- Follow directions of all school personnel.
- Keep yourself to yourself: respect people and property
- Be in the right place at the right time: be seated working on the warm-up when class begins, do not leave class without permission, do not exit until dismissed.
- Come ready to (do your own) work with everything you need and nothing you don’t. Have necessary supplies, including Chromebook when required. You will not need smart watches, headphones (of any kind), contraband, or any unauthorized devices or items.
- Civility will be enforced: no rude gestures, bullying, teasing, put-downs. No racist, sexist, homophobic, or other slurs.
Additional Guidelines
- If you are experiencing potential COVID-19 symptoms, please alert the teacher immediately so that you may be excused to the nurse’s office.
- Students will need to bring their chromebooks every day. The bulk of assignments will be online. Students are expected to only use their chromebooks for designated in-class assignments or purposes. Students who are using their chromebooks for unsanctioned activities will be subject to disciplinary action.
- Backpacks and purses are not permitted on top of the desk, table, or workspace. They need to be placed out of the walkway.
- Students are NOT permitted to charge cellular devices in the classroom. Chromebooks may be charged with teacher permission in designated charging areas. Students may not use outlets that are not specifically designated by the teacher for student use.
- Cell phone use is not permitted. Any use of cell phones, headphones or airpods, smart watches, or any other unsanctioned device by students will be treated as a disciplinary violation and will result in confiscation of the device and a fine of $15 in accordance with the Hardin High School Code of Conduct.
