Our students in this program will be learning in the demo classroom, prep kitchen, dining room, and Global Café. Students have an opportunity to intern at local restaurants and other businesses, as well as through public service events. Upon completion of this program, students will possess the skills to pursue a career in the culinary/hospitality industry as chefs, cooks, bakers, and management.
CULINARY ARTS I
Culinary Arts I is an introduction to students to the world of cooking. The main focus of the class is to teach students about safety & sanitation, knife skills, tools and equipment, baking, basic cooking techniques, basic recipe development, food allergies, nutritional values, major food groups, customer service, employability skills, management skills, and ServSafe. Career exploration into the world of culinary arts and hospitality will occur during the school year, showing students the career possibilities that will be available to students with a background in culinary arts.CULINARY ARTS II
Culinary Arts II is an advanced culinary arts course. The main focus of the class is to teach students advanced cooking lab skills, purchasing and inventory management, employee supervision, and restaurant management. Students will be expected to take on a leadership role assisting the chef to run the class, prepare catered events, and run the Global Café in our Career and Technical Center.

Starting 2025-2026, students who successfully complete and pass the designated Technical Assessment, including completion of this two-year NYSED Approved CTE Program of Study, may earn CTE Endorsement on their high school diploma.
