My name is Scarlet Vartanian. I am the lucky mother of two daughters. My older daughter is graduating high school this year , and my younger daughter is a freshman. I started my career in education as a teacher's assistant at GUSD about twenty years ago. This is my fourteenth year of teaching and out of the fourteen years, I have been at R.D. White for the past thirteen years. Nine years ago I joined Linda Afandilian and we started sharing the same classroom with two sets of students. It has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. Everyday I collaborate with my colleague to strengthen our teaching practices and ensure our students' success. We are the perfect duo! I have my Masters in Education in the field of Teaching Elementary Mathematics and Mrs. Aftandilian has Masters in Education in the field of Language Arts. Our smallest class size has been forty and our biggest has been fifty-two! We love to challenge ourselves and although we keep our best practices, we also try new methods each year.
In my personal life, I am very dedicated to my family. My husband and my daughters are my priorities. I love to have homemade meals ready for them at least four times a week and a family dinner time is a must every night. In my free time I love to do gardening, organizing, reading, and even playing computer games. I don't dream of big vacations but I love to experience new things every year. I am very short but I believe great things come in small packages!
