Mrs. Kristina Provost

It is with great honor and enthusiasm that I introduce myself as the Principal at Verdugo Woodlands Elementary School!

As the parent of a middle-school son, I understand the importance of a rigorous academic education in a nurturing environment that values student individuality and fosters parent collaboration. I have witnessed these qualities at Verdugo Woodlands. The teachers, parents, PTA, WAVE foundation, and Dads' Club have been an inspiration. The Verdugo Woodlands’ community demonstrates more heart, soul, and generosity of time and effort than any other organization I have ever worked with.

Throughout the past twenty years, I have had the opportunity to serve three different schools in a variety of capacities as an elementary and high school teacher, Associated Student Body advisor, and Assistant Principal. I began my career as a fourth grade teacher at a private school in Pasadena. I came to Glendale Unified in 1999 as an English teacher at Clark Magnet High School (Clark) under the direction and vision of Mr. Doug Dall and was promoted to Clark's Assistant Principal in 2007. After expressing an interest in returning to an elementary setting, I was given the opportunity to join Verdugo Woodlands Elementary School in 2011 as the Assistant Principal where I came to know and appreciate VW’s school culture and community under the leadership of Mrs. Janet Buhl. I was named Principal at Verdugo Woodlands Elementary School in 2012 and have held the honor ever since.

My passion for student success and dedication to the profession are represented in all aspects of my work. It is my mission to be fair and consistent and to provide each student with the tools he or she needs to be successful. I look forward to a wonderful year facilitating activities consistent with state standards and the district and school’s vision of community and second-to-none education.

With twenty-one years of experience in the field of education as a teacher and administrator at the high school and elementary levels, your cooperation, and VW’s fabulous staff, I am confident that we will proceed with integrity and the standard of excellence the community has come to expect from Verdugo Woodlands.
