Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
We implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), which is a proactive approach for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors in order to create a positive school environment that promote students’ social, emotional and academic success. The focus is teaching positive social behavior. We have a school-wide behavior matrix for key areas of the school, and each class has their own behavior matrix based on the overall school rules. Each morning our students make a Team Player Pledge by reciting our school rules. When teachers observe students following the behavior matrix, they are rewarded with a Paw Buck. Students save Paw Bucks to earn special awards.
