Due to a snow day on the Friday before winter vacation, the annual Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Alumni Day finally took place on Friday, January 5, 2018. It was organized by Galway Junior/Senior High School Technology Teacher Mrs. Joanne Donnan, who has been coordinating this event for many years.
Each year, Mrs. Donnan invites former students who are studying, have studied, or are working in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields to come back to Galway Central School District to talk with current students.
All of the panelists took PLTW classes with Mrs. Donnan when they attended Galway High School, and they have kept in touch with her over the years. They come back to Galway in order to communicate their valuable experiences with current students. This day allows High School students to ask people who were once in their shoes about college, internships, and the workforce. This helps current students to think about and prepare for the future and what opportunities lie ahead.
