Dear Galway Families,
I hope your summer is off to a great start! Here at Galway Central School District, we are cleaning classrooms, hiring new staff members, and getting ready for a new school year.
As you prepare for September, I want to make you aware of a change that may impact your family. During the pandemic, school districts received federal aid that allowed all students to eat meals at school free of charge. These funds are no longer available. As a result, the district will revert to pre-pandemic practices of charging for breakfast and lunch (we will email you with pricing next week).
There are several ways children can get free meals. Children are automatically eligible for free meals if anyone in their household gets SNAP, TANF, or FDPIR benefits. In some states, families with Medicaid may also qualify, depending on their income. Children experiencing homelessness, children in foster care, runaway youth, or children of migrant workers all qualify for free school meals when a member of their household fills out an Application for Free and Reduced Price School Meals. Children can also qualify for free or reduced-price meals through an application if their household’s income is under a certain limit.
If you would like help filling out the Application for Free and Reduced Price School Meals before school starts, please contact Cafeteria Manager Amy Thompson at 518-882-1033 ext. 4243.
Titan
The district has partnered with Titan School Solutions to help families manage their children’s school meal accounts. Titan is an online system that allows you to add money to your child’s meal account, monitor your child’s purchases, and receive reminder emails. Please click here for instructions on how to register for an online Titan account.
Please stay tuned for an exciting new Birthday Celebration program that Amy and the Cafeteria staff will be launching this year!
Have a great afternoon,
