On Wednesday, November 13, 2019, the community of Galway assembled in the Junior-Senior High School Auditorium to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Galway's Town Historian Phyllis Keeler.
Mrs. Keeler, who also taught at Joseph Henry Elementary School for 32 years, received proclamations NYS Senator Jim Tedisco, NYS Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh, the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors, and the Galway Preservation Society. She also received flowers on behalf of the Galway Seniors.
"Phyllis is a great lady and has served the community well," said Galway Town Supervisor Mike Smith.
Mr. Smith asked to hold the Mrs. Keeler’s celebration in Galway High School’s newly renovated auditorium as a larger space was needed for the anticipated large number of community members likely to be in attendance.
"We are happy so many people could come and wish her well and thank her in person for all she has done,” said
Galway Central School District Superintendent Brita Donovan.
