Visitor Information
FLCS requires all visitors to check in using our visitor management system. When visitors enter a school building, they are required to scan their driver’s license or state identification card for a check of their record and then wear a badge issued by the system while in the school. As our visitors leave the school, they scan and return that badge to front office staff.
Volunteer: Background Check
Interested in volunteering at school or attending a field trip?
A person who seeks to volunteer in any capacity within FLCS will be subject to a background check prior to being allowed to volunteer or attend a field trip without direct supervision during the school day.
Volunteer Application
STOPit App
STOPit is a mobile app that empowers any student to anonymously report school safety issues and reach out for help if they or a peer are facing a personal crisis or experiencing situations such as bullying, theft, mental health concerns, violence, sexual harassment, substance abuse or any other student safety concern. This app is available to students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
How it works
The STOPit app has two important features:
Reports can be used by students to report incidents to school administrators. Students can report as much detail as they would like and can even include photos, screenshots and videos. The report is received in real-time, allowing school personnel to quickly respond and begin taking the appropriate action.
Get Help can be used to access local resources such as law enforcement, mental health centers, crisis hotlines and additional resources.
No student information is needed to use STOPit. The only way personally identifiable information will be accessible through STOPit is if a student voluntarily includes it within the content of a report or message. Each school has a unique code for students to enter to ensure their anonymous report is instantly delivered to the appropriate school administrators and SROs.
Students are the most important first responders of school safety, as they are the eyes and ears of what is happening before, during, and after school. Offering this communication tool will enhance our layers of school safety and better promote a “see something, say something, do something” school culture.

Bullying Information
Frankton-Lapel Community Schools takes bullying very seriously. A team of school counselors and administrators work together on a regular basis to create productive learning environments that promote acceptance and responsibility for one's actions.

Emergency Drills
Drills are an important aspect of school safety, and will be used as teachable moments for our staff and students. Indiana Code requires each school to conduct monthly fire drills, one severe weather drill per semester, and one man-made occurrence drill per semester. In addition, our schools have established strong partnerships with local first responders and often have a law enforcement presence at the school during our drills.
School Safety Specialists
Indiana Code requires each school corporation to have a certified school safety specialist, however, FLCS goes beyond this minimum requirement and has multiple school safety specialists. Each safety specialist has completed a five day basic training sponsored by the Indiana Department of Education in conjunction with the Indiana Criminal Institute focusing on the fundamentals of school safety. Each safety specialist also completes two additional days of training each year to keep up to date with state and national best practices. More information on School Safety Specialists can be found on
IDOE's School Safety and Wellness
page.
