To members of the Franklin and Unatego communities:
Over the past several years, Unatego and Franklin have explored ways to preserve and expand opportunities for students in both districts. Many sports teams have been and continue to be combined, and last year Franklin seniors were afforded the opportunity to attend college level and AP classes at Unatego. This school year, due to a variety of factors, most importantly a significant teacher shortage, 29 Franklin 11th and 12th graders are taking all their classes at Unatego High School.
On 28 Nov 2022, the Boards of Education from Franklin and Unatego held a joint meeting in Franklin. The purpose of the meeting was to review and evaluate what had been done in the past, assess the current situation, and to plan for the future. As there was no forum for public input, we are offering the community an opportunity to ask questions and leave comments about the future of the school districts’ continuing to share programs and students.
