In addition to the support provided by school counselors, each team also has a social worker available to students, families and staff. Students can be referred to the school social worker by anyone, including parents, teachers, school counselors, administrators, coaches and friends, as well as a self-referral. Students seek support from social workers for a variety of reasons including but not limited to: on-going depression, anxiety or other mental health concerns; difficult home situation; conflict with friends or parents; school motivation; crisis intervention; grief counseling; adolescent development concerns; etc. There are times when the circumstances are beyond the scope of what the school social worker can provide. In such instances, an outside referral for therapy may be made through our clinical care coordinator, located within the high school.
