English
The EHS English department strives to provide students with reading and writing skills all students will need to succeed in their careers and college experiences after high school.
Four credits (4 years) of English are required for all EHS students. All Washington State public four-year colleges/universities require four years of English for admission.

- Poetry Out Loud - A national recitation contest that all EHS English classes compete in every winter.

Language Arts At EHS
- Retrospect Literary Arts Magazine - EHS' Literary Arts Magazine. Published each May by the Creative Writing Club. All students are welcome to submit art, photography, poetry, essays, and stories.
- Alutant Student Newspaper - EHS' Student News Magazine. Published each month.
- Klahiam Yearbook - EHS' yearbook. Published at the end of the year to catalog student life.
- Creative Writing Club - Club for Writers to seek feedback and get help on their projects.
- Cover to Cover Reading Club - A reading group that reads and discusses books throughout the year
