The Retrospect Literary Arts Magazine

Since 1974, EHS has published an annual literary and art review called Retrospect. This work catalogs student’s creative works of art, including poetry, photography, music, short stories, essays, drawings, and paintings. The Retrospect is currently managed and published by the Creative Writing Club. Look for this year’s issue in May.

Submitting:

We accept submissions all year long, but entries must be submitted before April 24 to meet the publishing deadline for that year.To submit, bring an original copy to Mrs. Wyler in Room E225, or email to retrospect@esd401.org

Submission requirements:

  • All submissions must be accompanied by your name, a title of the piece, and your graduation year.
  • If you would like your work to be anonymously published, let us know in your email, but your name must bo on your submission to be considered.
  • Submissions must be original creations of current EHS students, but do not have to be created during the academic year.
  • When submitting, students are agreeing that the work can be copied and distributed by EHS and waives any copyright expectations for the piece.
  • Work may be submitted in original prints or as high-quality digital copies.

We are proud to share the 2023 Retrospect! The digital edition is available to download here and print copies can be picked up at school.

In over 40 years, EHS has published 33 volumes of the Retrospect. In 2017, The Creative Writing Club digitized each volume to share online.
