Project Scope of Work

Idle Hour Elementary School

• Refurbishment of Library to create Media Center
  Convert existing library into a multi functional media center intended to expand students creativity where they can gain access to information and resources. The term used is a "shared learning space". This will involve new furniture including flexible seating options, and shelving, ceiling and lighting replacement, replacement of existing flooring, the introduction of new A/C, electrical, demolition, technology a new circulation desk, finishes and carpentry. Open wall between the existing library and the computer lab with a glass partition which will improve line of site and allow for the spaces to feel larger than they are. 
  
  
• Playground Replacement
  Installation of a new grade appropriate play ground structure for 4th-5th graders. Work shall include, excavation, drainage, play structure and ADA compliant safety surface. Provide ADA walkway to new structure.
  
  
• Sidewalk and Curb Replacement
  Install new ADA sidewalks to all existing playground areas. Currently there is not accessibility to any play structures. Replace existing asphalt sidewalk around entire building. Existing asphalt is heaving and in need of replacement
  
  
• Loading Dock Reconstruction
  Remove existing bumpers, railing, angled section of loading dock and ramp. Install new foundation system and extend loading dock for easier access during deliveries. A portion of the entryway into the rear parking lot will be modified as box trucks will now extend into drive area. Install new safety railing and bumpers. Install new ramp.
  
  
• Classroom Casework and Interior Alterations
  Replace existing window wall open book cases in classrooms ( 30-35 and reading room) where new UV's were installed. Remove existing wood folding wall between rooms 37 and 38. Install storage cabinets in room 38 to create more of a science room setting. New cabinets will be a combination of full height lockable and lower cabinets with counter tops. Replace casework in art room.
  
  
• Vinyl Asbestos Floor Tile Abatement
  Replace all remaining asbestos floor tile and vinyl cove base. Bulk scrape all existing mastic. Furnish and install new vinyl composite tile, 6" rubber cove base. Proper floor prep prior to installing new flooring shall also be required. Work shall be completed in strict accordance with NYSDOL ICR 56.
  
  
• Roof and Gutter Replacement
  Replace existing 4"gutter and leader at existing covered walkway. We recommend replacing the existing 4" gutters with 6" gutters, fastened to existing fascia board. Additionally we recommend gutter straps at 36"-42" on center be installed to provide additional stability to new gutters. Install snow guards - 2 rows staggered to prevent large pieces of snow and ice to slide off gable roof. Install new roof leaders and tie into new concrete drywells.
  
  
• Exterior Masonry Reconstruction
  Repoint existing brick chimney. Replace cracked bricks and install new poured concrete chimney cap. Exterior masonry repairs and brick repointing are also required.
  
  
• HVAC reconstruction
  Replacement and upgrade of misc. pneumatic controlled H&V equipment to DDC controlled. Convectors, fan coil units, convectors, mixing valves etc.
  
  
• Replace Existing underground Electric Service
  Replace existing incoming Primary lines from street to existing pad mounted transformer.
