Members of the Connetquot High School treble choir and combined orchestras had the opportunity to compete at the Music in the Parks Festival on June 1. The dedicated students exhibited excellence both on and off the stage. The ensembles performed at Grice Middle School in Hamilton, New Jersey. Each group performed three pieces for a panel of adjudicators. Under the direction of Peter Coffin, the Connetquot High School combined orchestra took first place in their division and earned a rating of Superior, the highest rating that is designated by the festival. The Connetquot High School treble choir, under the direction of James Nagle, also took first place in their division and earned a rating of Superior. After their respective performances, the students were able to enjoy the rides and attractions of Six Flags Great Adventure.

On May 11, the inaugural class was inducted into the Connetquot Art and Music Hall of F.A.M.E. The idea of coming up with a hall of fame stems back to our former Director of Fine Arts and Music Education, Jon-Michael Lasher. His vision was to create a place where we could recognize the accomplishments of our art and music graduates, while also serving as a source of inspiration for our current students to pursue a career in the arts. The committee reconvened this past summer and brought Mr. Lasher’s idea of a hall to fruition. Connetquot’s current Director of Fine Arts and Music Education, Mr. Vincent Malafronte, stated that, “our vision was to recognize and celebrate alumni and community members who have achieved extraordinary success in the arts or have provided exemplary service to the schools, community or the families of Connetquot.” There were ten members inducted into this year’s class by current committee members: Michael Carbonaro ………………………Class of 1994 Catríona DiNero …………………………Class of 2018 Charles Huffine ……….District Employee (1953-1970) Jon-Michael Lasher………………………Class of 1992 Jane Monheit …………………………….Class of 1995 Sonny Paladino…………………………..Class of 1997 Raymond Riccomini …………………….Class of 1987 John Sawicki …………………………….Class of 1992 Stephanie Torns …………………………Class of 2005 Chris Vivas ……………………………...Class of 1997 The Connetquot Art and Music Hall of F.A.M.E. is proudly displayed at Connetquot High School, outside of the Eric Martinsen Performing Arts Center.
