NBHS seal: National Business Honor Society - Involvement, Leadership, Achievement

 

Purpose

  • Promote and recognize academic achievement in business education at Connetquot
  • Foster and recognize leadership skills and character development
  • Help members grow ethically and socially by promoting and encouraging an interest in business; and
  • Encourage member involvement in service learning initiatives

 

Application Guidelines & Requirements

  • Must be a high school junior or senior
  • Must have completed or be currently enrolled in his/her third business course (includes Spring enrollment)
  • Must stay enrolled in a business class for the duration of membership
  • Must have a minimum standard 3.5 GPA average in business courses (90)
  • Must have a minimum standard 3.2 GPA overall since 10th grade (88)
  • Outstanding academics, character, leadership and service in the school community
  • Available to attend meetings and activities NBHS organizes
  • Must submit a complete application, copy of HS transcript and essay
    • A well constructed essay must be typewritten explaining why you feel you should be accepted to the NBHS, including what qualities you exhibit would contribute to this organization as well as your personal attributes that would help foster the growth and reputation of this organization.

      Based on structure, grammar, content, and quality of the writing, we give each essay one of the following ratings: FAIR, GOOD, VERY GOOD, or EXCELLENT.

 

Junior Achievement Partnership

Connetquot NBHS is a "Gold Partner" with Junior Achievement, High School Heroes. This program provides our students with leadership development opportunities by teaching lessons on financial literacy in our district elementary schools.

Following participation in the program, students will be able to:

  • Identify qualities of a leader and recognize the role of civic leadership in a community.
  • Use strong presentation skills to communicate effectively.
  • Recognize and use techniques that further teamwork and achieve group goals.
  • Apply critical-thinking skills to work-based problems.
  • Recognize the value of constructive feedback and the growth mind-set.
