Middle Years Program

The Middle Years Program (MYP)

The IB Middle Years Program (MYP) provides a framework of academic challenge that allows students to connect what they learn in school to the outside world, thereby producing a culture of global-minded learners. The MYP is focused on encouraging students to become critical and reflective thinkers.

The Middle Years Program, as distinct from the high school Diploma Program, involves ALL our students, ALL our teachers, and ALL our courses. It is inclusive and focused on every child. Our students are in a crucial period of personal, social, physical, and intellectual development. The MYP is designed to help them find a sense of belonging in this ever-changing and increasingly interrelated world and to foster their positive attitude toward learning.
Voice for the World's Endangered Species
Students in Language and Literature classes and Arts classes are partnering to be a voice for the world's endangered species. Ms. Barrett's and Ms. Sturchio's classes along with a school in Costa Rica are collaborating to create a poetry book that will highlight the plight of our world's endangered species and raise awareness of this issue. Ms. Barrett will travel to Costa Rica to meet the students there and give them their book as a culmination of this exciting partnership.

The IBO Mission Statement

The IBO Mission Statement

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programs encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
Inventions Throughout Time
7th grade English students observed and analyzed inventions throughout time. Students focused on how the devices changed and evolved over time and which components stayed the same and why. Then they watched the Flipgrid that Digital Media students prepared to see if their responses were accurate.
