Clovis Unified’s Measure A is on the ballot this November. Measure A is a facility bond measure that maintains a stable tax rate and would provide for: 
  • Safety, energy efficiency and technology upgrades for ALL schools.
  • Modernization and repairs to aging schools.
  • Completion of our new high school to ease overcrowding.

2024-25 Club Rush

As part of its educational mission for students, Clovis Unified School District allows both curriculum and non-curriculum related student clubs to meet at school during non-instructional hours (e.g., before classes begin, during lunch period, club schedule, after classes end). The Governing Board believes that curriculum and non-curriculum-related student organizations can have an important place in students’ lives. Besides extending and reinforcing the instructional program, such groups can give students practice in democratic self-government and civil social discourse, as well as providing social, intellectual, and recreational opportunities.

Non-curriculum-related student clubs and the viewpoints and speech expressed at meeting of such clubs do not necessarily reflect the views of the Clovis Unified School District or the Board of Education.

Starting a New Club

Students wishing to begin a new club must: 
  • complete a “Student Club Petition” with a typed constitution (available in the Activities office) or                                        click here for Student Club Constitution 2024-2025
  • have at least fifteen (15) other students that are interested in this club (must be underclassmen) 
  • find a staff member that is willing to be the club advisor
  • complete club list located on left side tab listed "Clubs" 

Who can join a club?

If eligible under applicable District eligibility standards, your student will have the opportunity to join one or more such clubs and to attend and participate in the meetings of any club that he or she joins. However, you have the right to inform the school in writing of any particular student club in which you do not wish your student to participate.  Consent to participate will be presumed without written notice to the contrary. (Policy 2505)

Clubs

A.A.S.U. (African American Student Union) 
Advisor:  Monique McCoy 
  • The African American Student Union (AASU) is an educational, cultural, civic, social, and community service organization. The mission of AASU is to enhance the experience and address the needs of African American students, give them voice, and create a safe space to promote friendship and solidarity, while bridging gaps between all students on campus and in the community. The purpose is: To positively represent African American Students in civic & social matters.
  • To serve as a gateway for African American students to learn about educational options and Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU). To take active measures in fostering an enriching environment for students attending Clovis West High School.

ASL Club: 
Advisor: Lauren Mueller (K-6)
  • To expand the languages on campus and spread ASL to others.   ASL is an important life skill to have especially in a diverse school/city.

Academic Decathlon
Advisors: Katherine Merrill (B-5) and Lauren Mueller ( K-6)
  • Competes in ten different academic disciplines based upon annual theme. Students compete against other decathletes with comparable GPA, ensuring a rich, equitable competition for all participants.

Auto Club
Advisors:  Mike Miller and Ricky Jones (N-1)
  • For students interested in technical careers or innovations that are taking place in industry and technology. Drafting, woodworking, automotive manufacturing, welding, and computers.

AVID College Bound Club
Advisor: Brooke Haglund (C-5)
  • To promote community service, organize social events and fundraisers, participate in leadership training, and provide academic skills for all students.  Advisor: Briana Lucas (C-1)

Book Club
Advisor: Brooke Haglund (C-5)
  • Purpose to encourage students to expand their creative mind through literacy exploration in an engaging way through books.

Bookagami Club
Advisor: Keri Folweiler (Library)
  • A way for students to come together, and give life and purpose to books and resources that would otherwise be discarded or thrown away.

Ceramics Club
Advisor: Barbie Savage Piasecki (C19)
  • To support local and national ceramic competitions and to cultivate appreciation of the ceramic arts.

Chess and Go Club
Advisor: Lili Wong (J-1)
  • To broaden students perspective on board games. To provide interesting and fun activities on school ground, To encourage students to think.

Chinese Club
Advisor:  Lili Wong (J-1)
  • To introduce Chinese culture and value, and to generate interest in learning the Chinese language.

Collaborative Mentoring Club
  • To build an inclusive campus culture for collaborative mentoring students and general education students to foster opportunities to enjoy school activities together.  

Cooking Club
Advisor: Christian Chapa (J-6)
  • To teach students how to prepare tasty meals. To bring together students through food and encourage exploration of new cuisines.

Environmental Club
 Advisor: Todd Kennedy (E-5)
  • Campus/community service club to promote recycling campus-wide, campus beautification, and the San Joaquin River restoration projects.

eSports Club
Advisor: Anthony Bringetto (S-2)  
  • To inspire gamers and no-gamers to start gaming through game boards and videos.                   

Faith Club
Advisor: Lori Hurley ( C-4)
  • Our goal is that Clovis West students may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. (adapted from Colossians 2:2-3)
  • Purpose: To provide spiritual encouragement and growth opportunities through Bible study, prayer, Christian fellowship, selfless service and personal evangelism.
  • Faith Club meets every Friday at lunch. Students are able to join in activities any time throughout the year.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (F.C.A.)
Advisor: Todd Kennedy (E-5)
  • To allow coaches, athletes, and students the opportunity to meet and share spiritual values.

Fashion Club
Advisor: Leslie Ashford (C-3)
  • Members to express their passion for art, design, and fashion and provide information on FIDM scholarships and opportunities.

Floral Arrangement Club:

  • To create flower arrangements for teachers and administration for special occasions and events such as birthdays, holidays, and other occasions.

French Club
Advisor: Cheryl Zahlis (P-18)
  • Aimed to expand one’s cultural and language experiences with French.

Health Careers Club:  
Advirsor: Heather Custer (P10) 
  • To encourage students who are interested in the health field to look into College and career opportunities.  

Hip Hop Club
Advisor: Monique McCoy
  • For students interested in hip-hop dance culture.

History Day Club
Advisors: Andy McElroy and Gabe Calderon (P-7 / P-6))
  • NHD Club members plan, coordinate, and conduct an annual History Day showcase for Clovis West Area feeder schools in order to develop and increasing appreciation for history and strengthen academic and intellectual skills in participants. NHD Club members will also support and compete in NHD contests for their own development and intellectual glory. National History Day (NHD) involves students in conducting original research on historical topics of interest. These research-based projects are entered into contests at the Fresno County and California State levels, where the top student projects have the opportunity to advance to the National Contest at the University of Maryland. In addition to facilitating the discovery of the past, NHD also helps students develop the following attributes that are critical for future success:
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, Research and reading skills, Oral and written communication and presentation skills, Self-esteem and confidence, and a sense of responsibility for and involvement in the democratic process.

Interact Club
Advisor: Erin Garcia (C-6)
  • Participates in fun and meaningful service projects that help people. Self-governing, interactive, and Rotary-sponsored, the club fosters friendships, leadership, and self-reliance. Opportunities include scholarships, leadership camp, youth exchange, and volunteering.

Invisible Children's Club
Advisor: Monique McCoy 
  • Invisible Children, Inc. is a National organization founded in 2004 to increase awareness of the activities of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) in Central Africa. Specifically, the group seeks to put an end to the practices of the LRA which include abductions and abuse of children, and forcing them to serve as soldiers. Invisible Children also operates as a charitable organization, soliciting donations and selling merchandise to raise money for its cause.

Italian American Club:
Advisor: Mark Cavagnaro (C-7)
  • To show pride in Italian American culture and to be prideful of oneself in general.  To have discussions, potluck, and meeting new people. 

Japanese Club
Advisor: Lili Wong (J-1)
  • Promote Japanese culture by furthering knowledge and interest in Japanese culture. 

Key Club
Advisor: Corrina Torres  (S-4)
  • Helps community create better awareness of common problems to all students.

Korean Club
Advisor: Lili Wong (J-1)
  • Promote Korean culture and customs and educating students about Korean history.

Latin Dance Club: 
Advisor: TBA
  • To empower CW students by teaching them about the Latino culture through contemporary dance genres.  This club would give CW students an opportunity to bond and feel more connected to CW.  To increase self-esteem by providing opportunities to learn more about musical heritage.

Latino Student Success Club (LSSC)
Advisor:  Gabe Calderon  (SOAR Office)
  • The Latino Student Success Club (LSSC) works to promote student advancement in higher education and unity among Latino students and their peers. The LSSC promotes Latino culture, values, pride and self-determination.  Latino community student involvement and development will create a strong bond within the area that surrounds Clovis West High School.  The LSSC aims to promote awareness of the invaluable contributions of the cultures of Africa, Spain, Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean.  The LSSC is open to all students that have a desire to understand the Latino culture and encourages a diverse membership from all ethnic backgrounds.

Middle Eastern Club:  
Advisors: Amber Kalustian (SOAR Office) and Kendall East (Counseling Center)
  • To raise awareness and educate others about the importance of Middle Eastern cultures, traditions, and celebrations.

National English Honor Society
 Advisor: Jeff Williams (B-4)
  • Confer, distinction and encourage upon students high achievements in English language arts and celebrate the written word.

Native American Club:  
Advisor: TBA
  • To create a supportive group for a small dynamic group of students on campus, and to help connect the Native American Club members to events and other opportunities related to the Native American culture.   We aim to develop a comfortable, safe space for people to be outward and embrace the beautiful Native American heritage. 

Natural Beauty
Advisor: Monique McCoy (S Building Cluster Office)
  • To bring groups of students together using Natural Beauty techniques and by promoting Self-Esteem.

Outdoor Adventure Club
Advisors: Karla Castanon (S-18) and Michaelah Cole (S-17)
  • To promote outdoor activities, health, and the enjoyment of nature.

Poetry Club:
Advisor: Erin Garcia (C-6)
  • We want to read, write, speak, and listen to poems.  We hope to make poetry accessible to all and use the written and spoken word to improve our community.  

Robotics
Advisor: Amanda McMeen (M-3)
  • To increase exposure for students to various technologies in a fun but competitive setting by designing, constructing and running robots in competitions.

Self-Care Club:

  • To provide a safe, comfortable environment for persons who are battling mental illness and to raise awareness.  To empower students to take a key role in increasing mental health awareness on campus. 

South Asian Club
Advisor: Corrina Torres (S-4)
  • Explore the various customs, traditions, and cultures of South Asia through cuisine, dance, music, film, and language.

Southeast Asian Club 
Advisor: Andrea Yang  (Counseling Office)
  • To promote interest Southeast Asian ethnicities and fellowship among students and staff. To spread awareness of different cultures, as well as their traditions, foods, and dances, etc

Spanish Club
Advisor: Karla Castanon (S-18)
  • To promote the Spanish language, to provide experiences relating to Spanish speaking cultures. to offer opportunities in our community.

Tabletop Club- Dungeon and Dragons
Advisor: Michaela Hough (C-18)
  • Create a space where people can coordinate their own tabletop events and connect with fellow students.

TGIF Club:
Advisor: LeAnn Richards (J-12)
  • Promote Health and Wellness through offering wellness workshops, and support among students while raising awareness and understanding about different cultures and heritage.  To gain a better understanding of our diverse society.  

Theater West
Advisor: Sandra Hahn (B-3)
  • To further the love of theatre both as a participant and as an informed audience.

Women of Clovis West High School:
Advisor: Jamie VanVolkinburg (E-6)
  • To bring awareness to the Board, get proper menstrual care, and other feminine problems we, The Women of Clovis West, face on a daily.  It is also meant to be a safe place on campus for women to share their stories without being judged.  

Yoga and Mental Health Club
Advisors: Lori Hurley (C-4)
  • An organization whose purpose is to foster a group of students that will promote, advocate, and develop a deeper understanding of yoga and mental health. The goals are to promote yoga and mental health, develop pride and confidence, and to share what is gained with the community.
