Principal's Message

Welcome to Cedarwood Elementary, the Home of the Proud Hawks! Cedarwood continues to work to uphold our philosophy that each student shall be given an opportunity to maximize his or her potential in mind, body, and spirit. We still uphold the tradition that we want students to be "Sparthenians". The "Clovis Sparthenian" is a student who exemplifies total well-being in mind, body, and spirit through education and self-actualization. We want all Hawks to become the best they can be in the classroom, on the field, and in the community. An important goal relating to the "Sparthenian" concept is to develop individuals who, through their actions and conduct, exhibit certain qualities perceived by the school and community to be positive traits of character. At Cedarwood Elementary, students are taught to be honest, responsible, respectful, dedicated, self-respective, and concerned for others. This long-standing mission is at the core of all decisions and has become the center of our culture.

In addition to holding students to high standards, it is our privilege to be tasked with the responsibility to take extraordinary measures to create a school environment that is safe, inclusive, and productive. Our entire educational team is student-centered, motivated, and competitive. We believe that healthy competition helps create a strong growth mindset and motivation to become our personal best. Cedarwood teachers are driven by continuous improvement focusing on rigorous standards-based instruction. We work alongside our parents and community to develop well-rounded students who are prepared for their future.

Cedarwood’s success has also been due to the support from our parents and community through the Parent Teacher Club (PTC). Cedarwood is proud of the work our PTC does and we encourage all parents/guardians to become active members.

Thank you for your continued support of all Cedarwood students and staff and are grateful for the supportive and invested community.

Go Hawks!

Sincerely,

Amanda Howes
