Class “C” Wastewater Course
-
Charlotte County Utilities is currently offering 8 full-time, 12-month paid internships.
-
The Wastewater C Course is one of the prerequisites required by the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) for obtaining a Class “C” Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators license.
The FDEP requires classroom instruction in the operation, maintenance, hazards, safety, and science involved in the treating of domestic wastewater. In this 155-hour course you will learn what makes up wastewater and the various types of treatment it must undergo to help protect the environment and public health. Information presented includes but is not limited to the role and responsibilities of a treatment plant operator, an explanation of why waste must be treated, and detailed descriptions of the equipment and processes used in a wastewater treatment plant. Operators also learn to analyze and solve operational problems and perform mathematical calculations relating to wastewater treatment process control.
The class will also prepare you to take the FDEP certification exam, which covers all aspects of wastewater treatment and operations.
Wastewater operators have been on the front lines of protecting the environment and public health for over 100 years and will continue to be at the forefront of protecting both for many years to come. Upon successful completion of the training course, students will receive a certificate of completion from Charlotte Technical College.
