Training Time:  5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Training Location:  Charlotte County Public Schools, Main County Office Building – Boardroom

*This training is for persons selected to serve on a K-12 Social Studies Instructional Materials Advisory Committee.  The training is structured to assist advisory committee members develop the skills necessary to make valid and objective decisions for the purpose of reviewing, ranking, eliminating, and selecting instructional materials for recommendation to the district school board.

Notice of the Meetings of the K-12 Social Studies Instructional Materials Advisory Committees (PDF Version)

Meetings of the K-12 Social Studies Instructional Materials Advisory Committees are scheduled for the following dates, times, and locations:

• These meetings are open to the public in accordance with s.286.011, F.S. Minutes of the meeting will be taken and made available to the public.
• There is no requirement for public input at these committee meetings. The School Board will hear public comment prior to making a decision on the committee's recommendation as to the adoption and purchase of K-12 Social Studies Instructional Materials at a public hearing scheduled for this purpose in accordance with s.1006.283, F.S. at the March 2024 School Board meeting.
• If a person decides to appeal any decision made by the committee with respect to any matter considered at such meeting or hearing, he or she will need a record of the proceedings, and that, for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based. s. 286.0105, F.S.

The K-12 Social Studies Instructional Materials Feedback Forms will be open for submissions from November 20, 2023 through January 12th, 2024.

Be aware that any information collected from these Feedback Forms are subject to the public record laws of the state of Florida.

Review the student edition for one of the titles listed in the Public Access Links Table below and submit a separate Feedback Form for every Instructional Materials Package for which you want to provide feedback.
