The Canton City School District opens a new academy for the 2018-2019 school year. The new academy, The AIM Academy at Fairmount (Accelerating Innovative Minds) is housed at Fairmount and encompass PK through grade 6 for the 2018-19 school year. Additional grades will be added in subsequent years up through grade 8. AIM will use a 45/15 balanced calendar model. This means there will be 45 days of instruction with a 15-day break called an intersession. Intersessions will coincide with traditional breaks such as winter break and spring break. There will also be a longer summer break in July. The number of instructional days are the same as a traditional calendar. Enrichment and intervention opportunities will be provided to students during the intersessions.
