Cabarrus County Middle Schools

There are 9 middle schools in Cabarrus County,

• C.C. Griffin Middle School is a neighborhood STEM school.
• Concord Middle School  is a neighborhood and magnet IB middle years school.
• H.E. Winkler Middle School is a neighborhood and magnet IB middle years school and hosts the Spanish Language Immersion program.
• Harris Road Middle School is a traditional neighborhood school and hosts the Mandarin Language Immersion program. 
• Hickory Ridge Middle School is a traditional neighborhood school.
• J.N Fries Magnet School is a neighborhood and magnet STEM school.
• Mt. Pleasant Middle School is a traditional Leader in Me school.
• Northwest Cabarrus Middle School is a neighborhood STEM school.
• Opportunity Middle School is an althernative school.
• Royal Oaks School of the Arts is a K-7 neighborhood and magnet A+ arts school. 8th grade will be added in the 2022-2023 school year.
• Roberta Road Middle School, a new middle school, will open in the 2022-2023 school year  

Our teachers design engaging work for students and are organized into interdisciplinary teams to create a small family-like environment for students.   School schedules vary from traditional 6-period days to modified block schedules, but all students have language arts, math, science, social studies, health & P.E., and a variety of exploratory courses.  School hours for middle school students are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Our middle school teachers have specialized training for working with early adolescents and are licensed to teach this age group.  We welcome the opportunity to educate and care for your child during the middle school years!
