Barclay Elementary School focuses on second and third grade instruction. Our master schedule is maximized to provide supports to the whole learner. We integrate Science and Social Studies in our Language Arts curriculum, however, we also provide time for additional instruction in those areas at the beginning of the school day. Special Subjects include Art, Music, and Physical Education, as well as weekly library instruction. Students will experience Language Arts and Math instruction with either their homeroom teacher or a partner teacher. In some cases, students might even have an opportunity for co-taught lessons, where two classroom teachers are working collaboratively to deliver instruction. Recess and lunch time is also provided for students daily. Master Schedules include daily What I Need (WIN) time where student support or enrichment is provided from a reading teacher or the classroom teacher. This 30 minute time is designed to support students with either remediation or enrichment opportunities. We also maintain a 30 minute social/emotional instructional opportunity every Monday morning. Many teachers choose to hold community circles, or follow our Purposefull People lessons during this time.
