Physical Education is a mandated class by New York State law and physical activity done regularly achieves tangible health benefits. Therefore your child’s participation is very important. If he or she is unable to participate in Physical Education, please let the nurse know by calling the Health Office 242-5181 and provide a doctor’s note with reason for and duration of restriction from activities.

The policy for participation in physical education class is as follows:

• If a student has a minor injury, we modify or change the activity and they should only do what they are able to do comfortably.
• If a student has a doctor's excuse, they are restricted to what the doctor's instructions are.
• If a student is excused by a doctor and cannot participate for an extended period of time (in the case of a fracture), the student needs a doctor's permission to resume participation.
