Nurse and School Physician

  • The nurse in each school has an awareness of each student's medical history and how it may impact the student's learning. The nurse is the interpreter of medical information, questions and developmental norms, and works with the pupil services team in making recommendations and decisions. She provides individual attention to students who require medication, helps with prosthetic devices, and assists with other special needs.

The school physician under contract with Brighton Schools serves on the Committee on Special Education and advises the school district on procedures and policies with medical implications. He or she provides other services as needed such as physical examinations of new Brighton students and athletic physicals.
