Biloxi First is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing our city’s award-winning public schools. Biloxi First has a vision of inspiring and supporting creative projects, enhancing curriculum, and helping to develop the full scholastic potential of students in the Biloxi Public Schools.
Biloxi First was founded in 1989 by a dedicated group of citizens to support the creative endeavors of teachers. As requirements and expectations of Mississippi's public schools continue to grow, the role of Biloxi First in Biloxi's school system is becoming increasingly more important. Fortunately, the efforts of Biloxi First have continued to grow through the generosity of local individuals and businesses.
Among the notable accomplishments:- 78 funded Named Grants providing funds for innovative classroom projects.
- A growing endowment fund in excess of $1,000,000
- More than $494,000 funding 669 creative classroom projects since 1989
- $200,000 awarded to Biloxi Schools for match to fund Promethean Boards
- Enriched educational opportunities for thousands of Biloxi's students
How individuals, companies and groups can get involvedThrough Biloxi First, you can establish a permanent Named Grant by a contribution of $5,000. Biloxi First, Inc., will in turn continually work to secure matching funds up to an additional $5,000 that will provide for a total of $10,000 to be permanently invested in the Biloxi First Educational Endowment Fund.Your Named Grant may bear your name, the name of your business or organization, or the name of someone whom you wish to honor.Biloxi First also welcomes members. Membership provides you with a special opportunity to become an annual contributor and to support the efforts of Biloxi First. Membership dollars make a direct impact on the quality of education in Biloxi.
