Loma Vista will have team sports playing for the 2023 - 2024 school year. We will be playing against the other three middle schools in the Alvord Unified School District.
Watch for emails from the school and listen for morning announcements to learn more. We will have the following sports:
Track & FieldThe track season will run from 8/14/23-9/15/23. An AUSD middle school track meet will be held at SITE TBD at 4:15pm on DATE TBD. There will be eight events held - 100 meter, 200 meter, 400 meter, 800 meter, mile, 4x100 relay, 4x400 relay, long jump, shot put.SoccerThe soccer season will run from 9/18/23-11/9/23. Games will be played with 30 minute halves and follow CIF rulesVolleyballThe volleyball season will run from 11/13/23-1/26/24. Matches will be best of three games played to 15 points and must win by two. Matches will follow all other high school rules.Flag FootballThe football season will run from 1/29/24-3/22/24. All teams will be co-ed. Games will be played following the AUSD middle school flag football manual.BasketballThe basketball season will run from 4/1/24-5/17/24. Games will be played with 7 minute quarters and follow high school freshman rules.Pep SquadThe pep squad seasons will run from 11/13/23-5/17/24. The pep squad will participate in a four week cheer and dance clinic beginning the week of November 13, 2023 and culminating with a tryout the week of December 11, 2023. The pep squad will cheer at football and basketball games following the competitive game schedule.Super StarOn Friday, 5/24/24, all four schools will come together at Site TBD for a Super Star competition at 4:15pm. The competition will crown the top Male and Female middle school athlete for the district. Each school may enter four male and four female athletes per grade level. The athletes must have participated on at least one team during the year. Participating students will compete in five of the seven events of their choice.Those events are:- Free Throw Shooting (10 attempts)
- 100 yard sprint
- Mile
- Shot Put Throw (distance - best of three)
- Vertical Jump
- Football Distance Throw (distance - best of three)
- Soccer Ball Dribble (in air consecutive dribbles, best of two tries)

In order to be part of a Loma Vista Lions team you will need a physical. You must use the AUSD Physical Form.
- Physical clearance paperwork must be submitted prior to tryout dates.
- Physicals are good for one calendar year.
- You may submit one completed within the last calendar year.
- Physicals may be completed by your own doctor or at a certified clinic.
