Our Parent‐Teacher Association (PTA) is active in the planning and coordinating of school‐wide events. Additionally, our PTA raises funds to provide for extra materials and supplies, educational assemblies, and study field trips.
The School Site Council (SSC) consists of five parent/community members who collaborate with five staff members. Their role and function includes monthly meetings that consist of the planning and implementation of our school‐based coordinated plan.
Our English Learners Advisory Committee (ELAC) is a supportive group of parents and staff who assemble on a regular basis to discuss issues and concerns relative to the development of English for those students whose language is other than English. Parent education on topics that are beneficial to parents of English Learners is provided based on needs assessment.
Volunteers serve as classroom aides, read with students and serve as chaperones for study trips. Parents attend a number of educational opportunities. Parent/teacher conferences are held each fall with all parents, and intermittently throughout the year as needed. The Student Support Team meets as a group and with parents weekly to plan interventions and modifications for students experiencing learning difficulties. Special performances and activities include parents as participants and docents. Parent Education/Parent University include topics such as testing preparation, standards‐based instruction, and asset development. Finally, parents are invited annually to Family Nights and other events.
Terrace has been a member of the National Network of Partnership Schools (NNPS) since 2013. Our Action Team for Partnership (ATP), now known as our Family Engagement Team, has fully embraced the frameworks for the six types of involvement.
