Here at Promenade we teach good character using data driven curriculum from Second Step and The 7 Habits of Happy Kids.
The Second Step curriculum is a classroom-based program designed to teach children how to understand and manage their emotions. It teaches students how to problem solve and how to handle different social situations. The Second Step lessons include: engaging songs and games, activities and take-home materials to reinforce learning.
The 7 Habits of Happy Kids is utilized in our Citizenship and Study Skills small groups. The book explores several important life skills such as: being proactive, making a plan for success, compromise and more.
Character education is apart of our everyday culture! We support our students and their development by reconizing their growth and outstanding character. Students who are "caught" demonstarting exemplary character are acknowledged by receiving panther dollars. They save these dollars to purchase items at our monthly student store for themselves, others, or for their class. Look below to get a better understanding of what six character traits we are looking for!
