Character Education

  •      One program that I am especially proud of is the "Caught Being Good" program at Collett. This program consists of class character traits and colors associated with their specific trait.

TK and Kindergarten- Red for Caring
    1st grade- Purple for Citizenship
    2nd grade- Orange for Fairness
    3rd grade- Green for Responsibility
    4th grade- Blue for Trustworthiness
    5th grade- Yellow for Respect

Staff is given "Caught Being Good" awards and students can earn these awards by engaging in any of the 6 pillars of Character (caring, citizenship, fairness, responsibility, trustworthiness, and respect). This award has nothing to do with academics and only to do with positive character. Students wear their class character colors on Monday's and my goal is that all students will participate in this to show pride for their character trait. My hope is that by noticing the positive in our students we will teach them to notice the positive in one another and increase the positive interactions overall.
