High School Diploma Completion & High School Equivalency (GED)

  • High School Diploma Completion

Alvord Community Adult School offers a High School Diploma Completion program for students who wish to earn their high school diploma. Upon registering, students will submit their most recent transcripts to the Registration Technician. The transcript will be used to determine what courses the student needs to complete and to create an educational plan. The plan will be created to meet the students need and schedule. Classes are offered in both an in-person and online environment.

    GED Test Preparation

The GED Test Preparation is designed to assist students in passing the GED exam. Students complete a pretest and identify which section of the GED they need to focus on. Coursework is completed on a web-based platform with assistance from the teacher, as needed. Teachers will help students determine when they are ready to take the GED exam. Alvord Community Adult School is not a GED Testing Center but will refer students to a local testing center when a practice exam indicates that they are likely to pass the test. If a student’s practice exam indicates that the student is likely to pass that section of the GED exam it is expected that the student will take the official GED exam the next time it is offered. The GED exam is $35 per subject ($140 for all 4 subjects) and students receive two retakes per subject. More information can be found on the GED website at www.ged.com.
