• Reading Intervention Program Grades K-8
This Reading intervention Program functions under the Academic Support program and is supervised by our district reading specialist. This program follows the Orton-Gillingham philosophy and uses a variety of strategies and multisensory techniques to help students gain the necessary skills to meet grade level goals and expectations.  The instruction is specifically in the area of phonemic awareness, phonics, spelling, vocabulary, handwriting and fluency. Student selection is based on students who are currently in the Academic Support Program and are in need of additional individualized support. The reading specialist progress monitors all the students in the district (Grades 1-8) using the universal screener: STAR Early Literacy and STAR Reading. All kindergarten students are progress monitored using Allendale’s Kindergarten Phonemic Awareness screener.  When a student falls below the district benchmark on these screeners, other assessments are administered to qualify for this program.
