Dear Wantagh Community,
I look forward to a successful 2023-24 school year for our students! It has been a busy summer preparing for the upcoming school year.
This summer we tackled several facilities projects. At Wantagh Middle School we replaced all the hallway ceilings and lighting fixtures. The renovation of the Wantagh High School Gymnasium took place, as the ceiling, lighting and gym floor were all updated and new windows will be added to the space this fall. In addition, we have been working with our district architect on submitting all plans to begin the process of starting the significant renovations associated with the approved bond referendums. We are hopeful to begin those projects in the summer of 2024.
I welcome the new staff members that are joining us across the district. We have a new member joining our administrative team. Mr. Thomas Burke returned to the Wantagh School District as the new principal of Forest Lake Elementary School. Mr. Burke was a former Mandalay Elementary School and Wantagh Middle School teacher, that has spent that last nine years as an administrator in a neighboring school district. We look forward to his leadership at Forest Lake.We also had a busy summer hiring instructional and support staff, with over forty positions being filled across the district.
