Toppenish School District is a leader in Washington State on the Balanced Calendar Initiative!
The Balanced Calendar Initiative is intended to support public school districts, tribal compact schools, and charter schools in exploring new ways to construct the school calendar and with the goal of positively impacting student learning and success.
TSD is partnering with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) to implement their Balanced Calendar Initiative. OSPI’s state and federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds are financing this initiative.
Currently, nine school districts in the ESD 105 region have received grants to participate in the planning and implementation of a balanced calendar. Those districts are:
Highland School District
Kittitas School District
Mount Adams School District
Selah School District
Thorp School District
Toppenish School District
Union Gap School District
Wahluke School District
Yakima School District
Toppenish School District was recently featured in the YHR for their work on implementing a balanced calendar.
