Welcome to the Temple City Alternative Education Programs encompassing our Dr. Doug Sears
Learning Center, the Temple City Adult Transition Program, the Temple City Virtual Academy
and the Temple City Community Adult Education Program.

All of our Alternative Programs, here at the Dr. Doug Sears Learning Center, focus on the health
and welfare of our students. We take multiple measures to ensure a clean and safe learning
environment. We pride ourselves on empowering students to make their dreams come true.
Students from all walks of life, ability levels, and skills come through our doors and we want to
help them make positive changes in their lives and the world.

We believe in helping students and their families to improve skills and get the help that they
need to ensure a brighter future. Both the Dr. Doug Sears Learning Center, the Temple City
Virtual Academy, as well as the Temple City Community Adult Education programs are fully
accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Our staff work
diligently to create the relationships necessary to help our community of learners to thrive.
Dedicated to the success of our students, the DDSLC, TCVA, ATP and TCCAE staff is constantly
evaluating and revaluating the services we provide in order to hone our skills as well.

We genuinely believe that being a community of lifelong learners means we ourselves, just like
our students, are continually trying to improve. We believe in the power of education to change
lives. We believe that the work we do here is changing the world. Through every conversation
and relationship we are helping our students, community, country, and world be a better,
brighter version of itself than it was yesterday.
