Greetings Raider Nation!
As a Sumter County native, I grew up as a student at Bushnell Elementary School, South Sumter Middle School, and South Sumter High School. At South Sumter High School I was extremely active in sports and always had a dream of coming back to my school to teach and coach. However, I began my career at the Sumter County Clerk’s Office and received my Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. After working for the Clerk’s Office for 15 years, my family and I moved to Oregon for a short period of time, where I continued to work in the court system. Upon returning from Oregon, I worked in the court system again, but decided it was time to pursue my lifelong desire of working in education. I have always been passionate about education and believed that it has the power to transform lives in a positive way, so I began the process of obtaining a teaching certification and it was the best decision of my life. I began teaching 8th Grade English and Language Arts at South Sumter Middle School in 2017 and after three years, I moved to South Sumter High School as a 9th Grade English teacher. While teaching and coaching girls' sports, I pursued my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University and upon receiving my degree, I was offered the Assistant Principal Intern position at South Sumter High School.
My journey in education has been marked by a deep commitment to empowering students in and out of the classroom, supporting teachers, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. I firmly believe that education is the key to unlocking the full potential of every student. In my role as Assistant Principal, I am dedicated to supporting student achievement, enhancing school culture, and working collaboratively with staff and parents. I am committed to working closely with our school’s leadership team to foster a learning environment at SSHS that educates, enhances, and empowers all students to achieve their personal, social, educational, and career/life goals. It’s great to be a South Sumter Raider!
